NWR Wild Card vs Daily Pass Decoder

Days Γ— parks Γ— vehicle Γ— size of party. Get the break-even point and a recommendation.

What this solves

The NWR Wild Card is an annual park pass that costs N$ 2,500 for foreigners (2026 reference). It gets you free entry to NWR-managed parks (Etosha, Namib-Naukluft, Bwabwata, Waterberg, Mudumu, Nkasa Rupara, Dorob, Sperreria on MTB). For multi-park or multi-day visits, it's a no-brainer β€” but only for foreign tourists who are visiting 5+ days of parks in a year, or whose party exceeds 3.

This tool takes your number of days, number of parks, vehicle entry, and party size, and returns the daily-pass total, the Wild Card cost, the savings, and the break-even.

It is not a booking. For Namibia β€” note that SADC residents get a different (lower) Wild Card rate; the tool models the foreign-tourist rate.

FAQ

How many days does it take to break even on the Wild Card?

For a single foreign tourist: 5 days. For a couple: 5 days. For a family of 4: 3-4 days. The break-even depends on party size because the daily fee is per-person while the Wild Card is fixed.

Does the Wild Card include accommodation?

No. It covers park entry only. NWR restcamps (Okaukuejo, Halali, Namutoni, Sesriem, Sossus Oasis) are separate bookings.

Where can I buy the Wild Card?

At NWR offices in Windhoek (Parks Board Building, Uhland Street), at park gates, or online at nwr.com.na. Online takes 24 hours to activate. In-person is instant.

Are there discounts for SADC residents?

Yes. SADC residents pay N$ 1,500 for the Wild Card and lower daily fees. SA, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia residents should check with NWR directly. The tool models the foreigner rate.
